Hey peeps... I've been wanting to try linux for a while and I'm finally getting my finger out... I've tried some live CD's but can't get internet access with my router...

Whenever I try to set up any kind of network config or router config it just freezes or does nothing...

I can't decide what to go for... have requested an ubunto(?) CD in hope that I should be able to get it working...

The main thing I'm trying to find out is if btyahoo actually works with linux at all? or if i need firmware for the modem... I'm using the BT Voyager 220v... I know the speedtouch one needed firmware...

any help would be much appreciated!

Thanks

Hi MoonMonkey,

BT Yahoo should work fine, as long as the router is configured with the correct settings (VPI, VCI, username, password)...

Hang on a tick, i think the penny has just dropped... you are trying to use the USB connection.

If your PC doesn't have a network (LAN) interface, you need to get one, then connect the router to the pc via a network cable. Everything should just work then..

Regards

Richard

If it takes 2 men a week to walk a fortnight, how long does it take a cross-eyed kipper to swim through a barrel of treacle?
